OUR STORY

Established in 1994.

I bought this beautiful 33 acre property in 1994 and built two custom built kennel buildings, one for big dogs in 1994 and one for small dogs in 1996. I wanted to create a 'summer camp' for dogs, where the focus could be on fun and exercise, just like kids enjoy at summer camp away from their parents. My inspiration for Tuscarora came from my frustration at having to leave my own dogs at downtown facilities where the emphasis was purely containment in urban buildings or converted warehouses, often in cages or little cubicles. Many urban facilities are focused on accommodating sick dogs. Importantly, they don't have much exercise space. But a tired dog is a happy dog. So, at Tuscarora we created miles of walking trails through our forest, along our creek. This healthy country park environment is what distinguishes Tuscarora and our mission to offer luxury pet boarding to the communities! Our regular customers know we have a winning formula when their doggies are straining on their leashes to get into Tuscarora to have some fun and exercise.
